Google Brings Agentic AI Features to Gemini for Business Users

Google has introduced agentic AI for Gemini that allows it to be used by Google Workspace enterprise customers to automate tasks as an AI digital employee. This will enable the Gemini AI-powered conversational assistant to carry out multi-task workflows with Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and enterprise apps without any need for user intervention.

In other words, this update gives the models execution capability and thus allows Google to grab a high-value enterprise software budget. The new agentic system will allow employees to delegate tasks to AI that would involve a number of tasks like gathering data from different departments, creating reports, and then scheduling follow-ups and other activities.

This is achieved with the help of Google’s Gemini 2.5 foundational models that reason about sequence dependencies, work independently to overcome exceptions, and communicate with APIs. To ensure security, admins will have control over the policies.

With the focus on enterprise customers over retail users, Google meets the increasing need for tangible productivity tools. Already tested in enterprise pilot projects, Google sees an impressive level of operational efficiencies, with the decrease in manual processing time for regular data flows reaching 60%.

As noted by Google Cloud executives, the introduction of agentic functionality in already familiar Workspace applications is critical in ensuring the least resistance to adoption of AI automation with current infrastructure.

This new product is a direct reflection of an industry trend for tangible AI agents that can do real work rather than just provide text responses. With the fierce competition between major cloud hyperscalers for corporate dominance, the integration of autonomous agents into productivity suites is rapidly becoming one of the key enterprise software drivers.

Google’s extension of its agentic capabilities in Workspace has set a precedent for enterprise automation by enabling generative models to become proactive agents in operations within enterprises around the globe.

In addition, having individualized identities and email addresses for independent sub-agents marks a drastic change in enterprise resource management. Through the provision of transparency in audits and computing expense limits, Google enables corporate IT departments to have the necessary governance for scaling digital workers.
