Google Photos Rolls Out Automated “Video Remix” Feature to Instantly Transform Ordinary Clips

The company has just introduced a new feature called “Video Remix,” which uses generative AI technology to change the lighting, styling, and background of any clips stored in Google Photos. The feature will be located right in the existing “Create” section of the app. There is no need to manually tweak color wheels or use masking tools. Just pick any video clip from your library and apply one of several simple templates available.
Using the company’s new multi-modal AI engine called “Gemini Omni,” Video Remix will automatically adjust a poorly lit evening video clip and give it morning light using cinematic relighting technology. Another option is to completely remove a boring background and replace it with a whole different one.
Aspiring artists who are seeking something a little more abstract will have the ability to apply complex artistic manipulations to videos through the use of this new feature. From features such as dream-like watercolor art, drawing pad, or oil paint, the system will automatically maintain the movement in the footage while applying the visual treatment.
The new feature marks the transition period during which complex post-production work is being simplified and transferred to easy-to-manage cloud operations, thus making expensive software like Premiere and DaVinci Resolve unnecessary. This new update is currently available to users with Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans in 14 countries, including the US, India, Brazil, and South Korea.
