Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio Plans Record $3.2 Billion India IPO
Jio Platforms, which is the telecom business unit of the Reliance conglomerate, is expected to raise $3.2 billion by conducting an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in India and set the stage for the creation of the most lucrative public listing ever seen in India.
The firm that Mr. Ambani owns wishes to have Jio Platforms traded publicly for the purpose of deriving value for their investors and positioning themselves as a leader in the telecommunications and digital services space of India. Jio Platforms, which comprises the largest mobile company in India called Reliance Jio Infocomm, and its digital applications, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise offerings, has more than 470 million customers on board.
The main purpose of the IPO would be to help foreign investors like Meta and Google realize their capital gains, which they have invested more than $15 billion in 2020 into. In practice, this is the end point of a decade-long transition at Reliance from conventional oil-to-chemicals refineries into customer-oriented technology verticals.
Financially, Jio has already reported in fiscal 2026 that it generates more than $13 billion of operating revenues annually due to an increase in average revenue per user (ARPU) due to recent tariffs adjustments and fast adoption of home broadband services.
This enormous initial public offering is a result of unprecedented investor interest in Indian stock market, which has seen the record number of IPOs in 2026. In successfully completing a megacap listing, India demonstrates its ever-increasing market liquidity and sets up a benchmark valuation of digital infrastructure created in developing countries.
Jio Platforms’ record-setting IPO is a historic landmark for Indian capital markets. Not only does it demonstrate good liquidity and high investor confidence in the South Asian digital economy, but it also creates a benchmark valuation for digital infrastructure in developing countries and gives institutional investors direct access to rapidly growing consumer data usage in India.
