Anthropic has partnered with the private equity giant Blackstone and a high-powered financial conglomerate to officially launch “Ode with Anthropic,” a $1.5 billion enterprise whose creators firmly believe that the next trillion-dollar AI company will be one that focuses on deployment rather than algorithm development.
The newly created enterprise services company is supported by a powerful list of investors such as Hellman & Friedman, Goldman Sachs, and Sequoia. Instead of offering distant licensing of software solutions, the new company pursues a “Claude-first” model, placing small, highly specialized teams of applied AI engineers directly inside customers’ enterprises.
These engineering units work as technology special forces, entering midsize enterprises, including local healthcare systems, regional banks, and small manufacturing companies, to fundamentally reshape their databases, create a rigorous evaluation of data, and implement autonomous workflows.
The strategy of the company depends largely on the portfolio of assets of their financiers, thus allowing Ode access to a stream of traditional businesses eager to go digital. The management of the new venture consists of employees transferred from Anthropic’s takeover of Fractional AI, who emphasize that while the selection of the model is indeed essential, the real business challenge is associated with difficult implementation.
The situation puts this small enterprise in direct rivalry with the distribution division of OpenAI and large consulting firms such as Accenture. Focusing on the practical integration and not the use of tokens, this partnership marks the beginning of a new era when AI goes from being a lab rat to business plumbing.
